Reservation: Reasons of curse?

Few days back, when the Women Reservation Bill was passed in the upper legislation, it was a moment when history celebrated second independence in India. Indian women got freedom. Every one was waiting for this historical moment for last 14 years. I too was  happy with the news but suddenly one question raised in my mind, why a society need reservation? The answer might be as, there is  something wrong in the societies which can't be corrected by its own.

In past, there had been  many reservation movements in India, and if my history is right then the need for reservation was first felt when the Muslim League was been established. The same type of movement was lead by Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar pre-independence and it resulted in the reservation for the schedule caste candidates in the public offers of jobs, positions and education.

So, where is the main problem?

The problem may be stagnation in the positive  and progressive thinking and especially dominance of the parents in the student's caeers. Yes ! I think I got the main point. Actually in India, due to the lack of the analytical education people's thinking got narrowed and mostly they behave as trained elephant of a circus. The majority of the peoples show a great order of discrimination. Parents in India loves their children very much and so they interfere in their lives and the career. This diminished the broad thinking in Indian children. Monopoly of the family system created different boundaries in the societies like caste, religion, and others. This problem prevents the desolation of different colors of the cultures found in India. And in this way,   the peoples who had accumulated the resources of production start to dominate as a special class and through there narrow thinking and family system they prevent distribution of resources. This created economic disparities in different communities.

So in the above situation, the dominating classes with resources but narrow thinking  for humanity, do not want to loose  dominance. They always try to optimize their profit. Some one said about human behavior  "Narrow thinker believes in profit optimization while the broad thinkers believe in profit satisfaction". Narrow thinkers  also believe in traditions, and majority of those are bad as few cases, main duty of the women is cooking food in houses and caring  children. Actually these works are associated with low muscular power and hence this was logical when man was hunter and gatherer, but with the time, the development in science and technology declined the importance of muscular power. And eventually the role of women should be increased in the outdoor activities but the excess of wars during medieval period shrank their role to reproducing children for armies, and this limited their value as only a commodity. Consequently, the thinking of the society deprived women from education and other social activities which resulted in the shrinkage of their technical and mental ability. But, after the Independence, when the education become universally accessible, then too the traditional narrow thinking of the people deprived them from getting the better education and also restricted their participation in social activities. In the current scenario, it is still looking very difficult, even in my village there is still the tradition of "pardapratha" being followed by Brahmin and many classes. For many disasters women are being considered as a bad omen.  So self correction of the  problem is looking impossible. To create equality in the population and to distribute the benefits of growth and  resources among all, government drafted some policies, and reservation is one among those.

Recently, when Women reservation Bill passed in the parliament, we all were very happy, but the main problem is as all the women of India considers them selves as "pativrata", hence it is not any guaranty that they would cause any benefit for the women? The major chances are that the decisions will be influenced by there husbands. Second main problem is to ensure equal benefit to the all classes of women, major chances are that the big fishes of society will engulf the smaller ones.

So what should be the permanent solutions of the problem? How we can create a society where  no one needs reservation for their progress? Obviously we needs social equality. Creating social equality is not  easy to do. But, according to me we must attack on the institution of marriage to create social equality. We must promote inter-caste marriage. And people who are earning sufficient income should try to marry to the peoples of low income level. We must try to ensure more jobs to women to ensure their decision making freedom. I means every one should support poor not only materialistically but  spiritually too. Create spiritual and social relations with them so they can feel confident. We must support their education as much as possible. We must try to install some factories and schools instead of spoiling money for luxury. Only then we can develop our country  prosperous. Else, it will be increased corruption in politics bcz depressed peoples will always be treated as vote bank and on the  other side Maoist will become more strong. It will not be good for peaceful and prosperous society.
